Brussels, 10/12/2024 – The Delegation to the EU, together with representatives of the Chambers of Barcelona, Ciudad Real, Teruel and Santiago de Compostela, has participated in the Connecting European Chambers 2024, organised by Eurochambres, which has brought together representatives of Chambers of Commerce from all over Europe in Brussels with the aim of promoting collaboration, mutual learning and the development of new initiatives in support of SMEs.
Belén Mendoza, European project manager of the Chamber of Santiago de Compostela, shared her experience in public-private partnerships (PPPs), highlighting the value of these collaborations to boost the local and regional economy. PPPs are presented as a key tool for the chambers to finance and execute projects that strengthen the business fabric and generate a positive impact on local economies.
The event included practical workshops and high-level sessions, such as the opening speech by Ben Butters, CEO of Eurochambres. In his speech, Butters emphasised the importance of the EU budget to maximise its impact on SMEs and underlined the role of the Chambers as key actors in this process.
Prior to the event, the Spanish chambers have also been able to participate in a workshop, given by Enric Segarra, an expert in business innovation, aimed at promoting a new vision of the value of innovation in European projects, raising awareness among the Chambers about the current paradigm shift, helping to understand the global context and the change in mentality necessary to take advantage of opportunities at this time of transformation.
Through initiatives such as Connecting European Chambers, the Chambers network seeks to ensure that European companies are prepared for the challenges and opportunities of an ever-evolving global market.
The Delegation of the Spanish Chamber of Commerce to the European Union reaffirms its commitment to support the Spanish Chambers in their participation in the European sphere, strengthening their role as interlocutors between companies and European institutions.
