Brussels, 11 May 2026. – The Lorca Chamber of Commerce held its plenary meeting today in Brussels as part of an institutional visit to the European institutions, organised under the patronage of the European Parliament at the initiative of MEP Marcos Ros Sempere, of the Group of the Progressive Alliance of Socialists and Democrats. The working session took place at the headquarters of the Spanish Chamber of Commerce’s Delegation to the European Union and brought together representatives of Lorca’s business community with European institutional officials.

The official welcome was given by Pilar Ruiz Huélamo, Director of the Spanish Chamber of Commerce’s Delegation to the EU, and MEP Marcos Ros Sempere, who explained the significance of the visit and the importance of regional chambers of commerce maintaining a direct link with European institutions. This was followed by a plenary meeting of the Lorca Chamber of Commerce.

The event concluded with a round-table discussion on the “European Agenda for SMEs and Competitiveness”, featuring Jordi Llinares, Minister for Industry and Tourism at Spain’s Permanent Representation to the EU, and Lucía Huertas, Director of the Region of Murcia’s Office in Brussels. The debate provided an opportunity to discuss the main European instruments and policies supporting small and medium-sized enterprises, as well as the opportunities that the EU’s competitiveness agenda opens up for the productive sector in the Region of Murcia.

At the Delegation to the EU of the Spain Chamber of Commerce, we welcome this type of visit, which brings regional chambers closer to the European institutions and enables the local business perspective to be brought to the heart of the EU’s decision-making process.
