Brussels, 28/11/2023.- On Tuesday 28 November, the Delegation to the European Union met with 11 women entrepreneurs from the island of Fuerteventura belonging to the textile, hospitality, education and cosmetics sectors. Led by the Cabildo de Fuerteventura, the Finnova Foundation and PROEXCA also attended the meeting, a public company attached to the presidency of the Government of the Canary Islands that promotes the internationalisation of Canarian companies and the attraction of new investments.
The event was part of the 100 Women Plus EU Brussels Visitors Programme which, co-financed by the European Erasmus+ programme, aims to bring women managers, entrepreneurs and entrepreneurs from the island of Fuerteventura to the European institutions, reinforcing their importance in high-level business environments.
Pilar Ruiz Huélamo, Director of the Delegation, began by explaining the Program for Business Support for Women (PAEM), an initiative of the Spanish Chamber of Commerce to support women in the business world. With it, the territorial Chambers of Commerce offer women entrepreneurs information and advice services on administrative issues or market studies, processing of lines of financing and support and monitoring in the elaboration of business plans.
The PAEM programme, since its inception in 2001, has served more than 140.000 women (over 350 in 2022) and created more than 42.000 women-led companies. In addition, this program is relevant at the national level, since the survival rate of the companies created under this initiative has reached 91,2% in the last three years. — Pilar Ruiz Huélamo, Director of the Delegation.
For his part, Carla García, EU Project Manager of the Finnova Foundation – a Spanish-Belgian foundation promoting innovation and entrepreneurship in the EU – explained the importance of the “100 Women Plus” project:
100 Women Plus is a program designed to improve collaboration between women entrepreneurs through the exchange of experiences and the transfer of knowledge. Finally, Juanma Revuelta, CEO of the Finnova Foundation, presented the “100 Women Plus EU Brussels Visitors Programme”.
